Supervision
I'm an experienced, qualified Clinical Supervisor. I offer supervision in a safe, accepting and developmental environment. I really enjoy working with both qualified and trainee Counsellors and CBT Therapists, supporting them to develop their Practice.
How I work
Supervision can be a restorative supportive space, a normative space to help align practice with theory and a formative space where knowledge and experience are shared in a way that is developmental and empowering. I work in a collegial way to support, share concerns and ideas and develop best practice. I have worked as a Trainer for many years and I understand how to break down concepts and processes to make them easier to grasp and work with. I support you to reflect, acknowledge your achievements and identify devlopmental steps, building supervision around Kolb's Learning Cycle: Experience, Reflection, Conceptualisation, Experimentation.
Experience
I have clinically supervised Counsellors and CBT Therapists in Private Practice since 2012, including CBT Therapists specialising in working with clients with long term physical health conditions.
I have clinically supervised Cognitive Behavioural Therapist Trainees at Southampton University since 2017. Prior to this I clinically supervised CBT Therapist Trainees at Canterbury Christ Church University 2011-14, where I was also an Examiner on the University's Postgraduate Diploma in CBT.
I clinically supervised Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners in the NHS 2011-13, and I clinically supervised Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Trainees at University College London, 2012-13.
I was Honorary Secretary for the BABCP Supervision Special Interest Group for ten years, and I am currently on the Supervision Special Interest Group Committee as an ordinary member.

I completed introduction to Counselling Skills and the first year of a two year Diploma in Person Centred Therapy, 2002-3.
I achieved an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling with Merit at CPPD Counselling College, 2003-6.
I was accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2007.
I achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Merit at Canterbury Christ Church University in 2009-10.
I was accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy in 2011.
I completed a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Supervisor training at Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre 2012-13.
Location, duration and fees
My Psychotherapy, Counselling and Supervision Practice is based in Swanage, Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. Since the pandemic I work online, which means distance is no object.
We can work on a time limited or open-ended basis, depending on your needs and preferences.
The initial consultation is free. This is an opportunity to get a sense of how we would work together.
My fees for subsequent sessions are £50 per hour, or £70 for 1.5 hours. Some concessions are available for people on low incomes, or for CBT and Counselling Trainees, please ask.
